Tea Van de Burgt is a Writer Director from Victoria, Australia. Raised in West Gippsland, she moved to Melbourne to study Film and Television and Creative Writing at Deakin University. Since 2021, and has since worked on 40 films in a variety of roles.

Tea has created six short films, including her newest films, Beneath It All, and The Happy Place, the latter of which she has co-directed with collaborator Harrison Rook. She has also directed Double Lines, written by Kate Nayler, which was selected for the 2025 Darwin International Film Festival. She also wrote and directed her graduate film, The Party's Over, for which she received awards from the ADG, Docklands Studios, and Music and Effects. She has also made her short film Alone in collaboration with Lumix Panasonic Australia, and Figment was a 90 second micro-short that got into numerous international film festivals. She has directed nine music videos, many for Melbourne artist and frequent collaborator Alisya Rae. She is the co-owner and co-founder of Melbourne production company Fullisick, alongside cinematographer Darcy Michell.

She has completed her Bachelors Degree in Film, Television and Animation at Deakin University, and she has studied advanced directing at AFTRS. Tea has also been awarded a New Colombo Plan scholarship, where she is undertaking further film study and internships in Singapore and Japan. She is currently studying film at Nanyang Technological University.  

Tea adores storytelling, and particularly loves making films about women and their unique, often untold, stories.

When she's not on set, Tea enjoys reading books, spending time with her friends and family, cooking and baking, travelling and writing.
